Tod Hudson was a typical teenager. He liked girls, sports, food and tolerated his younger brother, Nash. In fact, he had his whole life in front of him--and due to his bean sidhe heritage, it was going to be a very long life indeed. And then the car accident occurred.
Suddenly Tod's future wasn't so sure, and he had to make a choice. Life... Death... or something Between....
An ebook exclusive Soul Screamers series novella.
I honestly had no idea what to expect with this. A lot of times, a novella will leave you wanting more, but in a bad way. I like full-length books because I can really sink my teeth in the story line, the plot and watch the character arc. So I'm a little leery about novellas and shorts simply because there isn't a lot SPACE to invest in a true plot or well developed character arc.
Reaper by Rachel Vincent is a prequel to her Soul Screamers Series. Now, I've been eyeing this series for awhile, but never picked it up. There was always something I wanted to pick up more and unfortunately, I don't make enough to be able to buy everything I want.
BOY! I wish I'd picked this up SOONER! Wow!
There wasn't a lot of room in here for a long plot line, but that's not what this novella was about. It was about a boy and his decision to become a Grim Reaper. The character arc was beautifully done and it was a fantastic read! I was hooked from the first page (is anyone seeing a familiar thread in my reviews here?) and I just couldn't put the book down. I love Tod. He's a great character.
And I'm intrigued to see what Ms. Vincent does for the rest of the series. She's taken one of favorite mythological creatures, the bean sidhe (banshee), and gave it a fantastic spin which left me going, "Dang! Why didn't I think of that?!" LOL! *excited grin*
Immediately after finishing Reaper, I had to buy the first book in the Soul Screamers Series, My Soul To Take. I couldn't wait. I had to see how this story continues.
I have to say that Ms. Vincent is a FABulous author. I highly recommend her writing. I'm very excited I found her.

I think I read about this story on another blog. I definitely read about it somewhere because I remember thinking the story of a grim reaper would be so cool to read. I'm going to look out for this one.
