Tempest Update!

Originally, I wrote almost the entire series once. Things did not go well. We not only lost the battles, but we also lost the war. Not good. I ended up killing Mom, Quinn, Rune, and...KAT!

If you've been following me for any length of time, you remember how HORRIBLE that was. I nearly put an end to the entire series, threw it out, refused to write the last, fatal scene where EVERYONE dies.

And then I decided to scrap it, send Ri back through time and try it all over again.

This time, things were going better. I could see the outcome and it was good! Yes. We were winning.

But it was going much, much too fast and the character arc was suffering.

*eye roll*

So I took a break from the book AGAIN - because of work, thanks BossMan - and let it simmer in the back of my brainpan.

I realized that this time around, I had a few issues.

Rune, who was a fairly major player and one of my stronger characters the first time around, wasn't strong, didn't come off the page nearly as well, and was kind of a...wuss.

*eye brow raise*

I looked at his character, trying to see what I was doing wrong, but he seemed fine. Everything was...fine.

What I didn't take into account was that this time around, I had another stronger male character, Kes, who was taking center stage. It wasn't that Rune was a weak character. No. Not at all. He was just weaker on the page than Kes was. @_@ Hey, Kes has been around for over a thousand years and he's the last pegacorn. ANYone would look weaker compared to him.

So I took the advice from several writers in the blog-o-sphere and searched for actors who "could possibly fill the role" of my characters.

And I found one for Rune who was a little dark, not quite the good guy, and a definite asset of a team of his own making. *evil grin* Yeah, Rune got a face lift.

So with this in his court, surprisingly, the character trio dynamics of Rune/Ri/Kes is much better. Rune's still apparently the underdog, but that's okay. I'm still rooting for him. (Don't tell Mires) I have no idea how the series is going to turn out. I have no idea if we'll win this time. Maybe we're not supposed to. But I can tell you this.

I might kill Mom and Quinn. I might even kill Rune again.

But. I. Will. NOT. Kill. KAT!
