My Biiiiiig NEWS!!!!

Holy PETE, guys! This has been the absolute hardest thing to keep under my hat!

I sold Demons Are Jackasses, Angels Are Assholes, and Book 3 which needs a new name!!!

OMG!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!

Like, holy crap, Batman, I could just...scream!

Oh, wait. I did. I even cried a little. At work. LOL!

Well, as most of you know, I queried the freakin' world with Demons. I wrote it in 2007 (after scrapping the first half twice) and then queried, revised, queried, revised, until 2010. Last year, I decided that if I couldn't sell Demons after the last revise, I was going to shelve it. After 73 rejections, some of them by the same people multiple times after major revisions, I decided it was time. It just wasn't talking to the right people in the right way and that was it. I had Angels, which is a better book (go figure), so I thought maybe I could just tweak Angels a bit to make it Book 1 instead, and Demons could be the pre-quel if the series ever took off.

Then, one day, after posting an excerpt of Demons and Tempest (YA) here on my blog, I get this Tweet from a publisher. "We'd like to see your ms. Please go to our website for submission requirements." I immediately did a little research, found them to be legit, liked what they were offering, talked to a couple different people, and then Tweeted back: "Which one would you like to see?" To which they answered, "You choose."

Great. Well, Tempest was about to enter into major re-writes (this was about the time that I killed Kat in what became the final scene of the now trash-canned Book 4, I threw out the entire series, and almost decided to not re-write the series) so I wrote a very fun query letter and sent them Demons.

However, months went by and I didn't hear anything. In an era of querying when editors and agents don't always send rejection letters anymore, you draw a line in the sand, and reject yourself.

So I did.

I was distraught. I was still trying to figure out what went wrong with Tempest and that series, trying to figure out how not to kill all my main characters, and I had a book I'd been working on for 4+ years that wasn't worth buying.

So I decided to start revising Demons one last time, HARD!  I tore it apart. I took out 10K words. It was brutal. It was murder. But it was finally solid and just under 90K.

And then I get The Call.

Holy CRAP!!!

"Hello, is this Frankie?"

"Yes."

"I'd like to publish Demons Are Jackasses."

*pause*

"You wanna...what?"

"I...want to publish...Demons Are Jackasses?"

*another pause*

"Do I have the right Frankie?"

I was stupefied! LMOA!  I was at work, so I couldn't do the jump-up-and-dance-while-screaming routine that I had planned for 4+ years to do.  I just sat there going "Ohmygod. It's finally happening. Ohmygod. Ohmygod."

Poor Randi. She's just going on and on and telling me all these wonderful things about her company and how she got started and their business plan - and everything sounded great - but I was so afraid to speak! I just kept thinking, "Holycrap! This is real. This is finally real. Holy crap!" Randi kept checking on me. "Frankie, are you okay?"

LOL! Ooooooh yeah! I was sooooooo okay!

Well, short story long, The Little Things Publishing has offered a contract for the first three books of The Demon Talker Series (and they want Demons to be OVER 90K, so I had to madly scramble to add words back in! LMAO!). They're a fantastic publisher from what I've seen so far. I'm thrilled! Literally thrilled. The crew that I've talked to is phenomenal so far. I'm...gads, I'm so excited!

But now, there's a bunch of work to be done. I have to give my website a face lift with more emphasis on the books I can sell (SOON, too!) instead of just my characters and me. That's going to be so awesome. I'm looking at other author websites and jotting down notes of what I like and what worked for me, and *nods* yeah, I have no CLUE. However, the crew at TLT is going to help me out with a few pointers and some much needed direction. I'm ecstatic.

Demons Are Jackasses will be coming out in October of 2011. YAY! Angels Are Assholes will follow by a year, and then Book 3 (which has a tentative name for right now of Not That Kind of Golem, Golem - let me know if anyone gets that because I think it's hysterical!) will follow in 2013.

*breath of relief* I made it. I finally, finally made it.

And the view from here looks GREAT!

Go to their site, The Little Things Publishing, and sign up for their newsletter so you can read about all the fantastic authors they signed with me. It's going to be AWESOME!

And soon, I'll have real covers! EEEEEEKKKKK!!! LMAO!
