An Author's Website!

I logged on this evening and had exactly three thoughts. 1. Yay! If I weren't paying bills with it, what could I spend my Income Tax return on? 2. I only need another 500 words to finish Chapter 15. Boy, aren't I glad I took a lunch today? 3. What fun thing can I put on my site today? The thing I've found about my site is that I enjoy going to it. I go there to get inspired. I go there to remember where I was going with something. I go there to look at all the pretty pictures, and to remind myself when it's time to submit again. I don't understand the no reply. Is that yes? Is that no? When do I assume no if your website doesn't say, which, so far this batch, they didn't. Hello, I checked! No. I'm not getting snippy. I just need to know if I need to submit elsewhere or if you're keenly interested and just afraid to let me know because then you'd be forced to snatch up my book and then you'd have a new client. I mean, just look at all the reviews (including my own) that I've put on my site. My friends - and me! - love me. People outside of writing are visiting my site now too. People at work are coming up to me and going, "When can I read your books? They sound, well, kinda cool. I didn't think you were a real writer." *snort* A real writer. Are you serious? I'm a die hard writer. I just don't make any money yet. Maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll be able to retire at the ripe old age of NotDeadYet. Hello. I'm GenX. I'm hooped. The thing you have to remember with your site is that you have to keep it fun. You have to find something a little kooky that you do that no one else does. I do Group Therapies, and when people talk about my site, they mention two things. My covers and my group therapies. Are my covers the bestest? Heck no! You can tell an amateur with Paint made them. I know I can. Are my Group Therapies really that awesome? No, but they're fun and they're different. Figure out what kooky thing you do well, and work it, have fun with it, throw it out there, wait about six months (it takes that long for others to FIND you) and then let others have fun with it to. And for Pete's sake, will an agent pick me up so I have something to sell? Please? For the love of little green apples. *looking around to make sure no agents just saw that show of complete unprofessionalism* Nope? I'm good. Whew! *whistles with hands behind back and walks to bed*

  2. After innumberable attempts at making a website (which is really hard to do successfully when you have literally *no* products to be showcasing), I finally gave up and decided to just use my blog as my website like Kristin Cashore has.

Eventually, I'll buy the domain name and I'll figure out how to have the other pages be a different set up than the "home/blog" page. But that'll be a while yet--and only when I have a finished book. (You should be proud of me: I wrote over 2k last night. Lack of internet KICKED ME IN THE BUTT.)

*grin* I love your site. ;)

  4. LOL! I will have more Group Therapies up AFTER MarNoWriMo! I promise! LOL!! It takes just as much effort and time to write a Group Therapy as it does to write a partial chapter. When I'm trying to get a certain wc down and I'm already behind - AGAIN - every. word. counts.

    LOL!!!

    Don't worry! I won't leave you hangning.
